In Memoriam

to First Lieutenant John W. Perry,

HQ88BDE New York Guard.  On September 11, 2001, 1LT Perry cast danger aside in military tradition.  Running into the World Trade Center, he sought out his fellow Americans and led them to safety.  With complete disregard for his own life, he refused to leave until as many victims of terrorism as possible could be saved.  On that day, 1LT Perry sacrificed his own life so that others might live.

WO1 Michael P. Colbert,

HQ88BDE New York Guard.  On September 11, 2001, WO1 Colbert arrived for work in one of the upper floors of World Trade Center America.  Like almost three thousand other victims of terrorism, this American had his life ripped away by the unprovoked and cowardly terrorist attack on our nation and heritage.  But Michael Colbert was more.  He had chosen to devote time to serving the people of New York State as a proud member of the 88th Brigade, New York Guard.  In his devotion to protecting the people of New York and America, his loss stands out in the same spirit as the colonial freedom fighters of Lexington and Concord with their desire of liberty and justice for all.
